Summary:
The world came together to celebrate the power of communities!
On this year’s International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), activists, organisations, institutions, and allies around the world used their platforms and creativity to raise awareness and advocate for the rights and safety of LGBTQIA+ people.
In 2025, the global IDAHOBIT initiative recorded events taking place in more than 50 countries and territories across the world, with over 100,000 social media interactions on and around May 17.

The report offers just a glimpse of what took place across borders and communities, featuring excerpts from the many statements issued for IDAHOBIT 2025. It’s a reminder of what’s possible when we take action together.
At ILGA World, we are proud to continue hosting the IDAHOBIT secretariat and coordinating this global initiative’s advisory group – formed by over 20 regional and international networks of organisations.
To everyone who contributed through protests, statements, artworks, vigils, or daily acts of resistance and care: your action and your solidarity matter. Let’s keep showing up, stay engaged, and continue learning and unlearning as we celebrate the power of communities – on IDAHOBIT, and every day.
