Since 2006, ILGA has been publishing an annual report, which collects the discriminatory and persecutory laws against lesbianadjective/noun to describe a woman whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to other women. Women and non-binary people may use this term to describe themselves. More and gayadjective to describe people whose enduring physical, romantic, and/ or emotional
attractions are to people of the same gender. Men, women and non-binary people may use this
term to describe themselves. More people that are still in place in more than 70 countries in the world.
The 2013 version of the ILGA State Sponsored Homophobiafear, unreasonable anger, intolerance or/and hatred directed towards people attracted to others of the same gender. More Report will be launched in Geneva on May 15th.
After a welcome from Ms Sandrine Salerno, representative of the City of Geneva, Renato Sabbadini, co-Secretary General of ILGA, and Jingshu Zhu, co-author of the report, will present the 2013 issue of the ILGA State-Sponsored Homophobia Report which serves as an occasion to reflect on the state of homophobia in the world today.
The floor will then be given to Valeria Rabaglia, 2nd secretary, Mission of Argentina to the United Nationsan international organisation comprising 193 member States. It has the mission of maintaining peace and security, protecting human rights, providing humanitarian aid and ensuring economic and social development across the globe. It is a network of many different bodies and agencies, each of which has a particular role and responsibility. More in Geneva, followed by Minister Didrik Tonseth, Deputy Permanent Representative, Mission of Norway to the United Nations in Geneva, and by Ms T. Tsheole, Counsellor of Human Rights, Mission of South Africa.
